Individual Psychotherapy
Therapy supports healing and growth when the process helps us tap into our strengths and resources.
As a therapist, my intention is to support the development of nurturing and intimate relationships that facilitate self-knowledge and self-actualization. I listen with compassion and curiosity and will collaborate with you to discover strengths and resources that can help effect meaningful change in your life and relationships.
I welcome adolescents and adults to my practice. I have experience working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relational violence, substance use, life transitions, academic and career issues, and relationship conflicts.
I also work with people around issues of identity development and social position with attention to intersectionality. I have experience addressing issues of race and racism, questioning and coming out, gender identity, economic class and social capital, use of religion in treatment, and immigration and documentation concerns. I am deeply committed to addressing issues of social justice in my practice and my life.
My general orientation to treatment is trauma-informed, relational, and cultural. Together, we will explore how past and present relationships shape how we engage with ourselves and with others in the day-to-day. When we meet, we will discuss how to tailor treatment to your specific goals. For example, you may want to rewrite your history, learn more about your emotions, change specific behaviors or thought patterns, learn new coping skills, or identify weekly tasks to pursue. Similarly, you may want to identify larger socio-political patterns that affect your wellbeing or integrate other forms of healing into your therapy.
